In the meantime, rather than continually asking the same question but not reading the answer, I’ll let you into a little secret,… come closer, I’ll whisper it to you,…get a bridge – it will solve your problem. For example – If you read the replies on this very page (you may need the help of a grown up) you will find out the reason why Bootsy’s plugs are 32Bit PC, and not 64Bit or OSX.

It seems to me that when Mac-Whiners (not to be confused with legitimately intelligent Mac users) don’t get handed an easy solution they throw their toys out of the pram without making the slightest effort themselves (guess that’s why they use taxi-Mac’s rather than manual-PC’s). But this proves nothing more than we move in different circles. I have to admit, I don’t know any Mac users any more or any studios that still use Macs – I’m not knocking Mac’s here, but I genuinely don’t know anyone. There hasn’t been a single issue that I couldn’t overcome with a little effort/research.

I could say that I moved from Mac to PC in the 90’s and have never looked back (saved myself a ton of money in the process too). That attitude doesn’t encourage a positive response now does it ? My question is with your experience with D-Live consoles why is it necessary to have dante access to all of the UA Plugs and FX you allude to in your posts. Why are Mac fanatics so narrow minded and petty, always with sneery childish remarks. When or if I ever need a more comprehensive recording format I can go the Waves card route: however, if it ain’t broke I see no reason to fix it. I resurrected my old Glyph GPT50 USB 2 HD that is a wonderful mate for the internal SQ-drive USB 2 multi-track protocol. I initially planned on acquiring a Waves card for my Multi-tracking needs in order to continue to use the studio Waves plug-ins however the stock SQ FX along with the optional Compression package is more than adequate to meet my current live gig needs. During the unplanned 11 month “Time Out” we are in I decided to scale down the footprint of my acoustic Americana road rig to a SQ5/DX168 combo. I used a boat load of UA plug ins for years however 5 years ago when I joined the Digigrid/WavesLV1 family I found the Waves plug ins to be equal if not better. I would like to know more information about the specific type of music you are working with and the number of channels deployed. Will keep you up to date as the gear starts rolling in and i’m able to run some tests. I’m interested to see the processing power and return trip latency! Plugins will be hosted with LiveProfessor. I currently own an older UAD2 Satellite Duo FW, which I will probably run some initial tests with, however there is the option of getting a UAD PCIe card to also go in the thunderbolt chassis. So the idea here is being able to run UAD natively on a Macbook Pro, utilising a low latency Dante connection through the Focusrite PCIe card in a thunderbolt chassis. I’ve been searching options especially on this forum, and i’m not sure I’ve read anyone running this setup at the moment, but would love to chat if there is. Also given the distinct lack of gigs at the moment, it seems like a smarter investment financially.Īnyway, this post is pretty much just to amplify my excitement and talk about the proposed setup. Have been using D-Live for the last few years touring, and although I really wish I could afford my own – I feel like I would be able to squeeze the most out of the SQ5 to fit my shows into. Long time listener & user of A&H products.
